Great stool, wide wheel base

EarthLite Rolling Stool Without Back

I work in a massage chain, and they have these stools. The stools are used constantly by multiple therapists. My massage school actually trained me to not use a stool. However, when provided by my workplace, I do use it every time I work on a client face up. The newer chairs at my place of business are three years old and still look and function as new. PRO: Rolls quietly on carpet. Adjusts easily up and down with almost one finger while I am transitioning on client. Wheels don't get stuck when moving. When it adjusts up and down it is quiet. I am not a large person, and I am comfortable. Con: The wheel base is a bit wide. Once you have awareness of size of stool in regards to the size of the room, it shouldn't get in the way. However, if you have a small room, this stool probably isn't for you. Also, like anything, the way you care for it will dictate the life. I am not sure how well the other therapists at work wipe the stools down, but the stools that are 6+ years old are somewhat deteriorating on the seams. The newer ones at 3+ years old still look and feel brand new. These stools though are used sometimes 12+ hours a day, seven days a week, and so to get 6+ years out of it is great.

Satisfied, but troubled

EarthLite Rolling Stool Without Back

I think the seat is very comfortable and seems like it will last. Some of the cheaper stools looked like the seats may be hard and have no give so I got this one. I also like that the stool is adjustable and rolls easily. Assembly was a breeze. However, it seems to be difficult to raise and lower it at times, and upon sitting on the stool, it slowly/jerkily lowers ...

Q: I've used one of these stools for 8 years and the vinyl seat cover has completely peeled away, leaving a gray cloth beneath it. Do your newer models offer something that won't deteriorate quite so drastically and quickly?
