Not Worth It

I recently purchased an Oakworks Proluxe Convertable lift. I'm packing it up and sending it back today. I have a Golden Ratio table. The representative at Massage Warehouse told me that as long as my table met certain dimensions it should work. This is how it works: essentially, you remove your shiatsu cables (for me that meant taking the legs off entirely) and do whatever it is you have to do to make your table lay flat. The table top is centered on the frame and then there are two vice type things at each end that you squeeze together and tighten down with knobs under the lift. There's a cord that goes across the center of the table at the hinge and attaches at each side underneath the lift. (These attachment points do not work well at all.) Here's the main problem: the table feels sturdy enough when you lay on it or sit in the center, but any little bit of pressure on the ends will cause the table to vee up in the center. Also, I noticed that having the cord tightened down into the hinge would cause the table to vee up in the center as well. I called Oakworks about this and the representative told me that the cord was more of a "seatbelt" and was not meant to be fully tightened down. Also, any pressure on the ends of the table would cause the table to vee up in the center. This was true with Oakworks tables too. She said that even though they show a guy sitting on the corner of the table in the video, they would not recommend doing this. So basically the table top is stabilized on top of the lift, but not fully secured. If a client (or yourself) would need to use the end of the table to steady, the table would buckle and possibly cause them (or you) to fall. I'm not impressed at all with this product. If you want a lift table, I highly recommend just spending the extra money on a lift table made to your specifications and using your current portable table as a traveling table than trying to mess around with something like this.

This is one of the best purchases I've ever made for my private practice. It makes perfect positioning possible for any massage client, large or small. I've been a massage therapist for 21 years and am passionate about my work. So to be able to not have to worry about injury anymore is a dream come true! So much so, I'm going to buy another for my other location.
