Candles
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a massage candle?
Massage candles are made of wax that melt at low temperatures, like soy wax or beeswax, blended with a moisturizer and essential oils. Unlike regular candles, the melted wax of a massage candle will penetrate the skin similar to traditional massage lubricants.
How should I use massage candles?
To use a massage candle, simply light the wick and allow the candle to burn evenly for about 15 to 30 minutes until it forms a layer of melted wax. Blow out the candle, let cool for approximately 2 minutes and apply the wax directly onto your skin or pour into a bowl for application. Gently massage the warm wax as you would any other massage oil, lotion or cream.
What is an aromatherapy candle?
‘Aromatherapy candle’ is a term used to describe a candle made with essential oils or artificial fragrances thought to utilize the therapeutic benefits associated with aromatherapy. The phrase is often used interchangeably with ‘massage candle,’ but it is important to note that not all aromatherapy candles are actually massage candles. Whereas massage candles are made of low-temperature melting waxes, aromatherapy candles like Keyano Aromatics' Pumpkin Spice Candle can be made of paraffin or plant-based waxes that burn at a higher temperature and can therefore burn the skin.
Can you use soy candles as massage oil?
Although many massage candles are made of soy or beeswax, not every soy candle is suitable for massage. Massage candle wax is blended with moisturizing agents like jojoba oil, cocoa or shea butter as well as essential oils to create an inviting massage experience.
