Before using
kinesiology therapeutic tape, always consult your physical therapist or medical professional to ensure proper application and minimize further injury associated with improper taping. Your doctor will determine which pattern - X, Y, I or fan - and how much ‘stretch’ is necessary to best support your injury.
For best results, apply tape to clean, dry skin free of lotion or oils. Be sure that the area of application is free of thick hair to avoid adherence problems. Cut the end of the tape into a semi-circle as rounded edges are less likely to get caught up in clothing or other surfaces. To remove the backing of the tape, gently tear the paper backing by twisting the tape. Typically you will start by removing about 2 inches of the paper backing near one of the ends. After firmly adhering the first few inches, you will remove the remaining backing to apply as directed by your physician. After the tape is fully applied, rub it vigorously to ensure full adhesion.
